As a voter for the Pac-12 Players of the Week, my choices may occasionally differ from the official selections.
Either way, I want to share my picks and give brief explanations of why I voted the way I did for the Freshman and Player of the Week.
My tweeted picks and summaries appear below.
The Pac-12 Player of the Week vote was a tough one, but I voted for UCLA’s Jaime Jaquez Jr.

I went with USC’s Tre White as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.

Player of the Week — Jaime Jaquez Jr., UCLA
My vote came down to Jaime Jaquez Jr. or Boogie Ellis. Both had strong weeks but I gave the nod to Jaquez because he put it together in two games against ranked opponents.
Ellis had a career-high against No. 19 Auburn and was one of the main reasons the Trojans won, but Jaquez’s contributions against a ranked Maryland and ranked Kentucky team were equally as pivotal.
Freshman Player of the Week — Tre White, USC

The USC freshman scored a career-high against Long Beach State to start the week and provided needed contributions against No. 19 Auburn.
He also snagged four rebounds, one steal, and one block against the Tigers.
I considered Oregon State’s Jordan Pope and Arizona State’s Austin Nunez, but the career performance against LBSU from White was my deciding factor.
