Sun Devil Source: Last Thursday, the Pac-12 announced its plans to play a seven-game, conference-only football season that is scheduled to begin on Nov. 6. In this new format, teams are expected to play all five opponents in their division and one-cross divisional foe that would also count toward the final conference standings before every team would also play on conference championship weekend.
According to Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott, the league is expected to release its revised schedule sometime this week. He also stated his belief that the conference will have the opportunity for a team to make the College Football Playoff with its new format — the Pac-12 has a shorter schedule than every other Power 5 conference, which prevents make-up games from being played — due to the schedule incorporating “meaningful” and “high-level” games.
