Ironically, the SEC doesn’t have a single team slotted inside the first dozen of the national efficiency, a bit of a surprise considering the league began the season with three top-five teams.
ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI) breaks down teams in detail using net efficiency ratings in three different categories — offense, defense and special teams — to formulate an overall ranking. This includes the nation’s 10 most efficient teams per play through three weeks with a look at how each squad has fared in every phase of the game.
