Lincoln Riley starts spring walking his 'defense first' talk

By R.J. Abeytia, USCFootball.com: Lincoln Riley vowed to fix USC’s defense after a second straight season in which the Trojans paired an elite offense and a porous defense. The regular season ended with five losses in six games for the Trojans.

It was clear Riley and USC had hit a ceiling in terms of where that mismatched combination could take them. Riley involved himself further into defensive game-planning in 2023, but those efforts did not move the needle.
