Former Penn State coach Joe Paterno strongly considered coaching at USC

We’ve been talking to our friends at @NittanyLionWire about the paths USC and Penn State followed in the 1970s, which were very similar but never led to a meeting between the two teams in that decade — not until the 1982 Fiesta Bowl.
