Bear Territory: The 2020 college football season was an unprecedented year impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, leading to an unusual offseason as well. Cal was among the schools impacted most by a shortened year, playing only four games. To compensate active football players, the NCAA has granted all active fall student-athletes an extra year of eligibility into 2021.
