By Jamey Vinnick, CougFan: The United States was halfway through World War I the last time Washington State and Washington did not meet at least once during a calendar year in men’s basketball. But for the first time since 1916, there will be no basketball Apple Cup.
According to Greg Woods of the Spokesman-Review, Wazzu wanted the series to continue but instead, there will be an exhibition between the teams in Seattle at an unspecified date.
It’s disappointing the series won’t continue. But is it surprising? Not for a second.
