Top NFL Super Bowl Performances by Players from West

> Stephen Vilardo summarizes the 2024-25 highlights of standout alumni veterans and rookies

Fourteen alums of SuperWest programs were active for the Super Bowl on Sunday.

In a decidedly one-sided victory for the Eagles, we had a lot more players on the losing side than that of the victors.

I’d like to say the Eagles blitzed their way to a win in Super Bowl LIX as Patrick Mahomes faced his second-highest single-game pressure rate since 2017, but Philadelphia did it without even blitzing.

Despite that, they still got pressure on Mahomes on 53.3% of his snaps, the only higher rate since 2017 was the loss to Tampa Bay in Super Bowl LV.

So, there is your bonus stat from the game, and here is how the players fared.

1. Justin Reid, S, Kansas City/Stanford

Reid put up the best stats of any of the players on our list.

He ended what could have been his last game in a Chiefs uniform with seven tackles and was in on a stop of Saquon Barkley behind the line.

In coverage, the former Stanford star allowed two receptions for 26 yards on three targets.

2. Trent McDuffie, CB, Kansas City/Washington

The former Husky DB finished the Super Bowl with five tackles in the loss.

In coverage, he allowed four receptions for 46 yards on six targets.

McDuffie allowed a total of three yards after the catch.

3. Jaden Hicks, S, Kansas City/Washington State

Hicks ended up collecting four stops for KC in the loss.

He was not targeted in the passing game at all but did play a part in the run defense.

He lined up in the box on 14 of his 38 snaps and only found himself on a WR on four snaps.

4. Jaylen Watson, CB, Kansas City/Washington State

Watson had two tackles on the day and one missed tackle. He was only targeted twice in the game but allowed a reception on both throws.

He was matched up with DeVonta Smith on the play in which the Eagles WR caught a 46-yard TD pass to make it 34-0 Philly.

(Side note, that was the first time in Super Bowl history that a former Alabama player scored a touchdown. Yeah, it took almost 60 years for a Crimson Tide player to find the endzone in pro football’s biggest game.)

5. Nikko Remigio, WR, Kansas City/Fresno State

The former Bulldog was not a factor in the offense of the Chiefs but did have a productive night on special teams.

The rookie returned three kicks for a 28.0-yard average and had one punt return for five yards.

6. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Kansas City/USC

The former USC standout caught two the only two passes thrown his way in Super Bowl LIX.

He netted 16 yards on the two receptions with the long going for 11 yards.

7. Matt Araiza, P, Kansas City/San Diego State

The former Aztec showed off his boom stick on the biggest stage.

On a night he probably would have liked to have not seen the field, he had his busiest game of the season.

The six punts were the most work he has had in any game this season averaging 51.8 yards per punt with a long of 60 yards.
