By Jared Cowley, KGW: The Oregon Ducks came up short against the Texas Longhorns and lost the first game of the Austin Super Regional, 11-3, in the NCAA baseball tournament at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Texas, on Saturday night.
Texas, the No. 6 national seed, jumped on Ducks starter Cal Scolari early, taking a 4-0 lead on a two-run double in the first inning and a two-run homer in the second.
Scolari was erratic, walking six batters and allowing the two extra-base hits. In the fourth inning, he was pulled after walking the bases loaded. Texas added another run when Ducks reliever Jonah Barkoff was called for a balk.
