I went 3-2 last week, which puts me at 19-11 over the past six weeks. That’s a 63% win percentage. No, I’m not perfect, but if you’ve followed my advice, you’re money ahead.

Invest your profits wisely, my friend!

So where did I go wrong in Week 10? Well, for starters, I failed to predict an outbreak of covid in Berkeley. I also didn’t see Colorado’s Brendon Lewis becoming a real quarterback. Is the transformation permanent? See my Buffs-Bruins comments below.

This week’s action should play out pretty much as expected, except for one game—my Flaming Hot Upset Special. (And no, it’s probably not the one you’re thinking of right now.)

As always, my selections come with incredibly accurate game scores and just enough commentary to keep me from running out of jelly beans—excuse me while I look in the box—damn, I’m almost out.

Utah 38, Arizona 17

Utah’s schlwacking of Stanford was physical football in its purest form. The Utes ran for 441 yards as a team, six touchdowns, and won the game by 45 points.

For Arizona, last week’s win over Covid-Cal was a feel good story for all Wildcats involved. Unfortunately, the buzz will wear off quickly, and Utah will remind Arizona of who they are.

The only question is how many yards will Utah rush for?

Utes by three touchdowns.

Oregon State 28, Stanford 13

Vrrrrrh-Vrrrrrh-Vrrrrrh. The Beavers chainsaw appears to be stuck as of late and they are hoping to fix the pull-cord against Stanford.

For Oregon State, the loss to Colorado didn’t knock them out of bowl contention. But the final two games against Arizona State and Oregon could, making this game against the Cardinal paramount.

For Stanford, it’s official: They’ve now fallen to the dregs of the Pac-12. If we were playing Chutes and Ladders, they’re the chutes.

Beavers by 15.

Washington 24, Arizona State 21

Yes, this is my Flaming Hot Upset Special. 🔥 And what we have here is a matchup of two head coaches who may need to work on their emotional intelligence, rather than their football IQ.

For Arizona State, the question is will we see the team that was hungover against Washington State? Or the team that beat UCLA by 19?

The Huskies, believe it or not, may actually benefit from Jimmy Lake’s suspension. Their season hangs in the balance on Saturday, and 4-6 won’t fly in Seattle.

I’m picking the fighters over the recruiters. Do you see what I did there?

Washington by a field goal.

UCLA 33, Colorado 17

Did the Buffs actually learn to play football last week? Naaaaawwww.

Even though Colorado quarterback Brendon Lewis had his best outing of the year against Oregon State, the Buffs are still the Buffs.

UCLA’s defense is a different animal. Expect the Bruin’s to blitz relentlessly and turn Lewis back into his “pre-Beav” form. For the Bruins, this contest should prove the beginning of a three-game winnable stretch to end their regular season.

However, a loss to CU, and Chip Kelly’s program is starting to feel Clay Heltonesque. Bottom line, DTR should return, and the Buffs won’t sneak up on anyone this week.

Bruins by ten.

Oregon 35, Washington State 24

From a logical standpoint if there is any team who could upset Oregon, it would be Washington State.

WSU has won four out of the last six matchups, and is one of the few teams in the Pac-12 who has a functioning quarterback. They also feature two of the best receivers in the Conference in Travell Harris and Calvin Jackson Jr.

For the Ducks, just don’t duck it up. Or better yet don’t “Coug it.” Oregon is still the superior team, but they haven’t faced an explosive pass offense like this since Ohio State.

There will be no Cougin’ it this week.

Ducks by 14.

USC vs Cal (Postponed)

It finally felt like California was finding their rhythm, then Covid 2021 happened.

Cal entered the matchup against Arizona last week with a chance to improve their record to 4-5 with two winnable games remaining on their schedule.

Now they sit at 3-6 and will likely need a miracle to qualify for postseason play. The postponement of the USC game feels like another setback, but it may be a blessing in disguise, giving the Bears time to regroup.

Trojans and Bears get the week off. The surest bet of the day!
