By Chris Murray, Nevada Sports Net: Joel Bitonio, who came to Nevada as an overlooked two-star recruit before posting arguably the best career in Wolf Pack history, retired from the NFL on Tuesday following 12 seasons in the league.
The 34-year-old spent all 12 pro seasons with the Cleveland Browns, earning seven straight Pro Bowl berths and five AP All-Pro selections, including first-team honors in 2021 and 2022.
In a farewell note posted on Cleveland’s website, Bitonio said the thing he was most proud of was his ability to never miss a snap. After season-ending injuries in his second and third years in the league, Bitonio played every snap of the 2017-23 seasons, logging 6,481 consecutive offensive plays.
