By Jamey Vinnick, CougFan: Washington State didn’t just give Gesa Field at Martin Stadium a cosmetic facelift in replacing the turf. It is a significant technological upgrade designed to better replicate natural grass while improving player safety and durability.
As part of the ongoing renovations at the football operations complex, WSU installed AstroTurf’s RootZone system and an upgraded Schmitz pad underneath, and deputy AD Brad Corbin tells Cougfan.com that it will provide better traction, greater shock absorption and a noticeably softer playing surface for the Cougars for years to come.
