The Ducks started slow at Washington State with a lot of turnovers and struggles against a WSU run-and-shoot attack that has given them fits for almost a decade now, but righted the ship and pulled off a two-score win on the road.

The Ducks showed enough to me to keep them at this number five spot, right outside of the CFP. Their biggest problem as the season goes on though might be the struggles of the other teams in the Pac-12, giving them a lack of impressive wins, even if they go undefeated.

The Trojans have won two super tight games against the Arizona schools, getting them to 2-0 in a year where every win is big but won’t really show much nationally. The Trojans can remain in this territory as long as they keep winning close games against their rivals in the South. They’ll need to show more to move up to the Top 10 territory where they should be.

19. Arizona State (0-1)

Arizona State missed their game against Cal which now looks like it could have been a golden opportunity to get a big win, given how Cal looked against UCLA. The Sun Devils’ next game has now been cancelled due to a huge COVID-19 outbreak for ASU, and now it’s really a question of how many games they can get in this year.

20. Texas (5-2)

21. Auburn (4-2)

22. North Carolina (6-2)

23. Liberty (8-0)

24. Utah (0-0)

I still like the Utes so I’m ranking them even though I don’t know if they are even going to play this season. We’ll see if they can get in their game against USC this Saturday and go from there.

25. Washington (1-0)

A sloppy win in bad weather against Oregon State doesn’t do that much for Washington. I still like them enough to keep them ranked in a year where just about every team who has played has looked pretty sloppy, though. There’s no reason they shouldn’t be able to keep winning games and work their way up in the coming weeks.
