Bear Territory: Saturday evening’s blockbuster trade that saw the Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Rams trade Matthew Stafford for Jared Goff, a 2021 third-round draft pick and two first-rounders from 2022-23 had an unlikely tie into the NFL history books.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted Sunday morning that the deal featuring a pair of No. 1 overall picks in Stafford (2009) and Goff (2016) was the first of its kind. It rewrote history after a 1978 move that O.J. Simpson headlined with the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers.
