Week four in the NFL brought us some historical performances from a couple of former USC QBs one from a former Cal signal caller.
Each week I highlight the Top 10 performances of West Coast school alums in our coverage footprint.
Here are my choices for this week.
Top 10 NFL Performers
1. Jared Goff, QB, Lions/Cal
The former Cal Bear has himself a night in the final game of the weekend.
He set an unofficial NFL record with a perfect 18 for 18 through the air (need min 20 attempts for official mark), finishing with 292 yards and a couple of TD tosses. His passer rating of 155.8 was a career-high.
For good measure, he added a receiving TD.
2. Sam Darnold, QB, Vikings/USC
Sam Darnold was good yet again, leading Minnesota to a 4-0 start with 275 yards passing and three TDs.
Darnold is the sixth different quarterback to record at least two touchdown passes and a passer rating of 105 or higher in each of his team’s first four games of a season.
3. Paulson Adebo, CB, Saints/Stanford
The Saints fell to the Falcons 26-24, but the former Cardinal made his presence known.
The cornerback had 12 total tackles, 10 of which were solo, and added an interception.
4. Caleb Williams, QB, Bears/USC
The former USC star completed 74% of his passes with a TD in leading Chicago to a 24-18 win over the Rams.
Williams, who won his NFL debut at home in Week 1, is the first rookie quarterback selected No. 1 overall to win each of his first two career home starts in the common draft era.
5. Fred Warner, LB, 49ers/BYU
The former Cougar makes his second appearance in the Top 10 this season.
Warner totaled seven tackles with an interception in the 49ers’ 30-13 win over the Patriots.
6. Jeremy McNichols, RB, Commanders/Boise State
The former Bronco found the end zone twice in the Commanders’ romp of Arizona.
In addition to the two scores, he tallied 74 scrimmage yards on nine touches.
7. Zack Moss, RB, Bengals/Utah
The former Ute racked up 78 yards from scrimmage and added a touchdown vs. the Panthers.
His contribution helped the Bengals get in the win column for the first time this season.
8. Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Colts/USC
The Colts collected their second win in a row and the former Trojan had a big hand in it.
Pittman finished the day with 113 yards on six receptions as a steady target for Joe Flacco.
9. Bobby Wagner, LB, Commanders/Utah State
The Washington defense harassed Kyler Murray and the Cardinals offense all day long in their 42-14 win.
Leading the way for that unit was the former Aggie who concluded the day with 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, and half a sack.
10. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Lions/USC
The Lions’ offense was firing on all cylinders and the former Trojan did a lot.
He ended Monday Night with six receptions for 45 yards including a pretty toe drag on a TD reception and added a TD pass to Jared Goff.
