It was another good week for several former SuperWest players.
Each week I highlight the Top 10 performances of West Coast school alums in our coverage footprint.
Here are my choices for Week 16.
Top 10 Week 16 NFL Performers
1. Jared Goff, QB, Lions/Cal
Goff threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns with a 137.0 passer rating in the Lions win.
The former Golden Bear is the first player in NFL history with at least 275 passing yards, two touchdown passes, and a passer rating of 135 or higher in five games within a single season.
2. Caleb Williams, QB, Bears/USC
The former Trojan threw for 334 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions for a 107.7 rating in Week 16.Williams is the sixth rookie in NFL history with at least 300 passing yards and multiple touchdown passes in four games.
The rookie now has nine consecutive games with at least 20 pass attempts and no interceptions.
3. Sam Darnold, QB, Vikings/USC
Darnold threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns with a 112.3 passer rating in Minnesota’s win over Seattle.
The Vikes improved to 13-2 with the win and the former USC star became the seventh quarterback in NFL history to record at least 13 wins in his first season with a team.
4. Frankie Luvu, LB, Commanders/Washington State
The former Cougar was a menace all day as Washington knocked off Philadelphia to stay alive in the NFC East race.
Luvu finished the day with seven tackles and an interception.
5. Daiyan Henley, LB, Chargers/Washington State
Henley led the Chargers with 10 tackles on Thursday.
The former Cougar was all over the field making plays for LA.
6. Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers/Oregon
Justin Herbert and the Chargers picked up a huge Thursday night win over Denver.
In the game, the former Duck threw for 284 yards with two TDs and added another 28 yards on the ground.
Herbert is thriving in Jim Harbaugh’s system.
7. Bo Nix, QB, Broncos/Oregon
Bo Nix once again had another good outing.Despite falling to the Chargers, the rookie QB continues his streak of solid play and continues to reward the Broncos for selecting him.
Despite being blitzed on 63% of his dropbacks, the former Duck completed 73% of his passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns while running for another 25.
8. Michael Penix Jr., QB, Atlanta/Washington
Penix was impressive in his NFL first start, going 18-of-27 for 202 yards.He did throw one interception, but that was on a pass that Kyle Pitts failed to secure.
The Falcons offense looked much crisper with the rookie at the helm.
9. Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR, Lions/USC
Amon-Ra St. Brown had six receptions for 70 yards and one touchdown in Week 16.The former Trojan has 101 receptions this season after logging 119 receptions in 2023 and 106 catches in 2022.
He is the third player in NFL history with 100 receptions in three of his first four seasons.
10. Damontae Kazzee, S, Steelers/San Diego State
Kazzee finished the game with seven solo tackles, his most of the season and the most for the former Aztec in a game since 2020.
In coverage, he allowed just one reception for 14 yards.
