By Barry Bolton, CougFan: Washington State President Betsy Cantwell‘s call to arms this past Friday in Spokane apparently is paying off already. A source in position to know tells Cougfan.com that three “large gifts” were pledged to Cougar athletics early this week in response to Cantwell’s comments at the CougsFirst! Show about the pressing need for WSU and Cougar Nation to dramatically increase revenue sharing and NIL distributions to Cougar athletes.
The source declined to provide a dollar figure but said each of the gifts is in the six figures and that the donors are aiming for the money to be leveraged in coming months into two matching campaigns — one for the CAF scholarship fund and one for the coaches excellence funds.
