By Jamey Vinnick, CougFan: For the first time since 2018-19, Washington State will play an open exhibition game ahead of the regular season. It was announced by Washington State on Thursday that the Cougars will play New Mexico at 6 p.m. on Oct. 25, part of the Family Weekend festivities and a chance for folks to go straight from Martin Stadium to Beasley Coliseum. The football team plays Toledo at 12:30 p.m. on that day.
In the past, open exhibitions have largely been against smaller schools in lower divisions. For example, the last one was a 138-63 win over New Hope Christian.
