The days in which the Pac-12 continues to exist appear to be numbered with USC and UCLA’s departure for the Big Ten, combined with increased talks of further conference shakeups.

Many Pac-12 fans continue to wonder what their school might do next, and whether or not the Conference can find a way to survive in the long term. At this point in time, it does not seem like surviving is a likely outcome for the Pac-12.

On today’s episode of Locked On Pac-12, I’m joined by Richie Bradshaw of Locked on Sun Devils. It’s his dream, and that of many ASU and Pac-12 fans, to see his team make it to the Rose Bowl—a dream that could possibly only (for certain, anyway) be in play for two more years.

If the Pac-12 can’t keep the teams that remain (notably Oregon, Utah, and Washington), the Rose Bowl Committee would certainly have to re-evaluate who gets to play in the ‘Grandaddy of them All’ in Pasadena.

Rumors of a Pac-12/Big 12 partnership in which west coast schools join the Big 12 have also been making the rounds—and there’s a reason.

The two conferences now find themselves in somewhat similar places, making a potential partnership (of joining schools) to legitimize one BIGGER conference might be smart. It would be a lot of teams, but increasing the pedigree of the schools they have can’t always be done with a “quality over quantity” approach.
