But it hasn’t been enough to keep Herm Edwards’ name out of hot seat discussions.
Now heading into 2022 with a revamped coaching staff outside of Edwards, the future of the program seems to be shaky at best.
The docket of 12 opponents this year features plenty of winnable games, but the Sun Devils don’t seem poised to surpass—or even get back to—their win total of eight from a season ago.
On today’s episode of Locked On Pac-12, I’m joined by Richie Bradshaw of Locked On Sun Devils. Together we go through and predict the outcome of each of the 12 games on Arizona State’s schedule upcoming in the 2022 season.
Conference play may very well begin with two losses having to go up against Utah and USC in back-to-back weeks, but wins against Pac-12 foes should eventually follow.
The following week against Washington will feature two programs that feel like they are not reaching their full potential when it comes to on-field results.
When it’s all said and done, the Sun Devils may just barely find themselves going back to a bowl game in 2022, albeit not a top-tier game.
However, the possibility of not reaching the .500 threshold in 2022 remains a possibility for a team that has been decimated by the transfer portal this offseason.
We generally agree with the trajectory of the Sun Devils this season but have minor disagreements on how they might arrive very close to (or at ) the .500 mark in 2022.
