By Dean Straka, 247Sports: Conference realignment remains in full swing after USC and UCLA announced in late June they would join the Big Ten in 2024, a move bound to only widen the gap between the Big Ten, SEC — the latter adds Oklahoma and Texas in 2025 — and rest of college football.
But as consolidation of the sport seems inevitable given current trends, longtime college football analyst and former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit thinks there will be room for a third power league alongside the Big Ten and SEC at the table when the current phase of realignment ends.
