By Jacob Rudner, Sun Devil Source: On the eve of the 2019 season opener, Arizona State head coach Herm Edwards said he found himself pondering the capabilities of his backup kicker, walk-on sophomore Cristian Zendejas.
The Sun Devils’ starting kicker at the time, Brandon Ruiz, was doubtful for the season opener due to a lower extremity muscle ailment, leading Edwards to plan for Zendejas to handle the team’s kicking duties.
