By Jeff Hauser, Athlon Sports via Yahoo Sports: With Big 12 Media Days now over and Jake Retzlaff officially withdrawing from BYU, the three-way quarterback battle will be a hot storyline in Provo. The competition will feature returning quarterbacks McCae Hillstead and Treyson Bourguet, along with Stanford transfer Bear Bachmeier.
CBS Sports’ Brad Crawford recently ranked the Big 12 quarterbacks and BYU took a hit without Retzlaff at second-to-last. However, he predicted Hillstead to win the Cougars starting job.
“Uncertainty surrounding returning starter Jake Retzlaff has put the Cougars in a bind,” Crawford wrote.
