By Brad Crawford, 247Sports: Five college football programs switched conferences Monday, joining several others which made offseason jumps. With Texas and Oklahoma becoming members of the SEC, the ACC welcoming SMU and others within the Group of Five ranks, a new era of sorts is upon us.
Expansion within the Big Ten, SEC, Big 12 and ACC are major storylines, but realignment will not result in immediate success for all parties. Schedules strengthened considerably in the SEC and Big Ten, while the Big 12 and ACC still have a clear hierarchy of elites near the top.
