By Garrett Grochowski, County17.com: University of Wyoming Football head coach Jay Sawvel had the opportunity to address media Monday during the school’s fall athletics media day. There, he said that the program is going to get a fresh start this season.
“I have two jobs at this university, pure and simple. One is to develop student-athletes to help them launch a career, and the second one’s to win. We didn’t win at the level that we needed to win at a year ago and so we made quite a number of changes,” Sawvel said. “Some have been very visible, some have been very publicized, many others have not.”
This includes leaning more heavily on a younger core. While the program did lose a number of standout players to the transfer portal, including major difference-makers like running back Harrison Waylee, others are sticking around.
