CougFan: Washington State’s Kyle Smith said Tuesday he’s “trying to avoid the easy out” of blaming the Cougs’ recent struggles on the face they’re young. But he also acknowledged in his weekly presser that “objectively, that’s probably a fair statement” in at least partially explaining why the Cougars have lost five in a row.
“It happens to teams, even older teams,” Smith said. “The thin backcourt and Noah (Williams) having the tailbone (injury) … and getting guys back in the mix, can affect your team sometimes.”
