By Barry Bolton, CougFan: Washington State officially named Jon Haarlow as its new athletic director on Tuesday, marking a significant leadership decision under WSU President Betsy Cantwell. Haarlow, who has served in an interim capacity since November 2025, will be formally introduced at a press conference at Gesa Field on April 20. His appointment makes him the 16th leader of Cougar athletics.
With more than 15 years of experience in collegiate athletics and a strong financial leadership background, Haarlow brings a well-rounded perspective to the role. Since joining WSU in 2021, he has held key positions in both athletics and university administration, contributing to financial strategy and operational coordination across campus.
