By Jamey Vinnick, CougFan: Anne McCoy waited three weeks to explain why she decided to gut the most successful sports program in Washington State University history, but didn’t provide much clarity Thursday despite several reporters asking in various ways over 30 minutes for the reasons behind the decision.
The presumptive driver in paring the WSU track and field program down to distance running was widely thought to be cost savings in this era of tight budgets and growing NIL and revenue sharing demands. Not so, McCoy said in a media briefing via Zoom.
