By Caleb Yum, Austin American-Statesman: A year ago, Texas State football coach GJ Kinne glowed about how his program retained most of its key players. But after another 8-5 season capped with a bowl win, the Football Bowl Subdivision Power Four conferences came calling.
At this year’s Texas High School Coaches Association Convention, Kinne reflected on how different his roster looks heading into the Bobcats’ final year in the Sun Belt, having lost 20 players in the transfer portal.
“You know, two years with those guys, two years of film, two years of them getting sacks, it just changed,” Kinne said Sunday at the downtown Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. “The landscape of football changes.”
