By Brad Crawford, 247Sports: Kalen DeBoer put his band back together at Alabama with the addition of Ryan Grubb at his new offensive coordinator, a promising development for the Crimson Tide ahead of the 2025 season. DeBoer’s former offensive coordinator at Washington, Grubb helped the Huskies shatter several program records over his two seasons in the Pac-12 with Michael Penix Jr. as his starting quarterback before his lone season in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks.
Alabama transitions to a more motion-based looks before the snap with Grubb calling the plays. A preference of bunch formations and stacks on third down pushed Washington to a nation-leading 56.8% conversion rate on third down during the 2022 season and initiated the development of the Huskies’ wideouts, including former first-round pick Rome Odunze.
