Each week our senior football writers—Dane Miller, Nick Bartlett, Stephen Vilardo, Mark Shmor, and Mik Dietlin—select an Offensive, Defensive, and Freshman Player of the Week throughout the 2021 football season.
They submit their selections before the official Pac-12 Players of the Week are released to keep their choices independent. Seven different players received votes in Week Five.

Jayden Daniels, Junior Quarterback, Arizona State
Junior quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 13 of 19 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns, including a game-tying 65-yarder to Ricky Pearsall and a 54-yard toss to Pearsall to take the lead in Arizona State’s 42-23 win over UCLA.
Daniels also rushed for 45 yards, ranking him 10th in Pac-12 in rushing yards for the season. His performance earned him a quarterback rating of 158.9, third-best in the Conference through Week 5.

Avery Roberts, Junior Linebacker, Oregon State
It marks the fourth game in which Roberts has recorded double-digit tackles this season, and his 51 total tackles on the year ranks first in the Pac-12 and seventh nationally. He was the only unanimous selection by our writers.

Tanner McKee, Freshman Quarterback, Stanford
Freshman quarterback Tanner McKee completed 20 of 36 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-tying TD as time expired, in Stanford’s 31-24 overtime victory over Oregon.
The performance earned McKee a quarterback rating of 157.3, fourth-best in the Pac-12 for the week. His passing yardage total of 1,093 ranks sixth in the Conference.
