By Jamey Vinnick, CougFan: Washington State announced in a two-paragraph release on Monday it is cutting its track scholarships and events. The cuts are effective immediately. The change comes with WSU in a university-wide budget crisis exacerbated by the federal funding cuts and implosion of the Pac-12. The school said in Monday’s release it would be “shifting to a distance-focused approach” and cutting field events such as jumps and throws.
