By USC Athletics: Senior Jamine Jones led a trio of Trojans advancing to the women’s 400m hurdles final on Sunday at 5:29 p.m. All three runners finished in the top two of their heat to automatically advance. Jones had a time of 53.66 to take second in her heat, behind Anna Cockrell (USC, 2021) who won the heat with a personal-best time of 52.95. Dalilah Muhammad (USC, 2012) placed second in her heat with a season-bet time of 54.16 to advance. Among qualifying times, Cockrell was second, Jones fourth and Muhammad sixth.
Nia Ali (USC, 2011) placed third in the first semifinal of the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 12.55 (+0.8) and would have to wait it out, as the top two plus next three best times would advance to Sunday’s final at 5:00 p.m. Her time turned out to be tops among the nonautomatic qualifiers and she advanced with the seventh-fastest time. Junior Jalaysiya Smith had a time of 13.05 (+1.0) to place seventh in her semifinal and 15th overall.
Madisen Richards (USC, 2021) had a best jump today of 21-7.50/6.59m (+0.3) to place seventh in the women’s long jump final.
