By Steven Lassan, Athlon Sports: Since the inception of the College Football Playoff in 2014, just 14 different programs have earned a trip to the four-team championship.
That number will jump significantly in the coming years with the shift to a 12-team format in ’24, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a first-time playoff team in the final four-team season.
