By Chris Trevino, USCFootball.com: USC football bolstered its defensive coaching staff on Tuesday with the promotion of defensive analyst AJ Howard to outside linebackers coach, according to 247Sport national college football analyst Matt Zenitz. Howard wrapped up his first season with the Trojans in 2025 as an analyst and assistant linebackers coach to Rob Ryan.
It is unclear the status of Ryan with the program, but Howard will work alongside new linebackers coach and special teams coordinator Mike Ekeler, who joins Gary Patterson‘s staff from Nebraska.
