College football coaches have their hands full with offseason recruiting, as the most successful programs not only emphasize talent acquisition during the cycle at hand but also lay the foundation for the following class.
The 2026 cycle is already beginning to pick up, as Auburn showed this past weekend when it picked up a trio of four-star commitments from incoming high school juniors. 247Sports updated its 2026 Top247 rankings Wednesday, and a pair of new five-star prospects headlined the batch.
Offseason camps provided another look at these rising recruits. And while the upcoming campaign will further shape the class, there already exists a clear top tier. Five players separated themselves from the pack over the first two years of their high school careers and earned five-star status.
With the latest adjustments to the Top247 and a flurry of summer commitments, the early pecking order among college football recruiting classes for the 2026 cycle rounded into form.
