Starting quarterback Matthew Sluka announced late Tuesday night that he’s preserving his redshirt, leaving the program and entering the transfer portal after the university failed to fulfill promised financial “commitments.” His situation has become an all-too-familiar trend in college football, and previous polarizing moves from the likes of D’Eriq King, Jaden Rashada and Taulia Tagovailoa laid the groundwork.
King is arguably the most famous example of a quarterback calling it quits on a season.
