By Chris Murray, Nevada Sports Net: For the fourth straight season, the UNLV athletic department has clinched the Silver State Series all-sport competition against rival Nevada.
UNLV has now won 11 out of the 14 competitions between the schools since the series was launched in 2012 by then-Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, who is now UNR’s president. Originally named the Governor’s Series, this competition established a formal head-to-head athletic and academic challenge between the longtime rivals, the only two Division I departments in Nevada. It was rebranded the Silver State Series in 2018.
