By Josh Yourish, Go Joe Bruin: As his sixth season at UCLA came to its end, Chip Kelly’s seat got hotter and hotter. Despite improving the program from 3-9 in 2018 to 9-4 in 2022, the Bruins had plateaued and recruiting became a concern for the 60-year-old 2x Pac-10 Coach of the Year from his time at Oregon.
UCLA could have cut ties at the end of the season, but by letting their head coach leave on his own accord, the program saved about $10 million.
