Two of 12 college softball teams from West advance to Super Regionals

By SuperWest Sports Staff: Just two of the 12 college softball teams from the West competing in regionals over the weekend advanced to Super Regionals.

Here’s a rundown of the results.

No. 16 Oregon (51-8) defeated former Pac-12 rival Stanford twice on Sunday, 15-5 and 10-7 in the Eugene Regional, after falling into the loser’s bracket on Saturday.

Senior transfer Dezianna Patmon secured the final victory with a walk-off home run.

The Ducks will host a Super Regional beginning Friday against Liberty. The Flames upset No. 1 tournament seed Texas A&M on Sunday.

No. 9 UCLA (52-10) piled on 13 hits to handle UC Santa Barbara 12-1 in five innings in the Los Angeles Regional on Sunday.

The Bruins will face No. 8 South Carolina in the Columbus Super Regional, beginning on Friday.

Elsewhere in the West:

  • Cal lost to No. 2 Oklahoma in the Norman Regional on Sunday.
  • No. 13 Arizona lost on Sunday to Ole Miss in an elimination game in the Tucson Regional.
  • San Diego State lost to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday in the Los Angeles Regional.
  • Grand Canyon lost to Arizona in the Tucson Regional on Saturday.
  • Washington lost to Mississippi State in the Lubbock Regional on Saturday.
  • Arizona State lost to UC Santa Barbara in the Los Angeles Regional on Saturday.
