By Jeremy Cluff, Arizona Republic via Yahoo Sports: The Texas vs Arizona State targeting controversy is not going away as sports talk shows, officiating experts, analysts and media members and even a priest have weighed in on the controversial non-call late in regulation of Arizona State’s 39-31 Peach Bowl loss to Texas last week.
And now the player at the center of the controversy, Texas defensive back Michael Taaffe, has shared his thoughts on the play, and the aftermath of the hit that shook ASU football wide receiver Melquan Stovall in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
Officials reviewed the play and did not assess a penalty on Taaffe, much to the outrage of many in the college football world. That outrage led to harassment, according to Taaffe, who said he was subject to a lot of vitriol via text after his phone number was listed on social media.
