By Jackson Moore, Inside The Spartans: The San Jose State Spartans opened the season with high expectations and were two-touchdown favorites against Friday night’s visitors from the MAC. But SJSU failed to settle in during Game 1, and Central Michigan delivered a 16-14 upset.
In a back-and-forth game, the most steady presence was Central Michigan’s rushing attack. The Chippewas ran 51 times for 236 yards at 4.6 yards per carry, and controlled almost 34 minutes of possession. More than 100 of those rushing yards came in the first quarter.
