By James Crepea, The Oregonian/OregonLive: This wasn’t the season Makhi Hughes envisioned when he transferred to Oregon earlier this year.
A preseason AP All-American, Hughes rushed for 1,401 yards and 15 touchdowns and had 19 catches for 176 yards and two scores last season at Tulane. But one month into the 2025 season, Hughes asked to redshirt.
The reasons seemed apparent. Hughes found himself slotted behind several players among UO’s seven-deep group of running backs.
