By Pete Nakos, On3: Cal is expected to name true freshman quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele its starter for Week 1 at Oregon State, sources tell On3. Sagapolutele, who transferred to Cal shortly after enrolling at Oregon, beat out Ohio State transfer Devin Brown for the starting job.
Sagapolutele was committed to Cal for much of his high school recruitment before flipping to the Ducks in December. But after being at Oregon for Rose Bowl Game practices, he opted to leave the Ducks and soon after committed to Cal.
