By Roman Tomashoff, Huskies Wire: Even though the Washington Huskies didn’t commit 16 penalties for 135 yards as they did in the Apple Cup against Washington State, the fouls coach Jedd Fisch’s team did get called for were even more costly in their 21-18 loss to the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
Early in the second quarter, the Huskies were driving down 7-3 and converted a third down and two on a quick out route to Giles Jackson, which would have given the Huskies inside Rutgers’ 15-yard line with an opportunity to take the lead.
However, an illegal low-block call on running back Cameron Davis took it off the board and backed them up 15 yards, eventually leading to a missed 42-yard field goal attempt from Grady Gross, the first of three on the night for the junior.
