UCLA’s Kyle Philips, a highly recruited former four-star out of the San Diego area, made his presence known in his redshirt-allowed four games as a reserve receiver and punt returner in 2018.

The following year, Philips broke out, setting a UCLA freshman record with 60 catches. He also became the first Bruin redshirt freshman to lead the team in receptions since Craig Bragg in 2001.

Philips was a dynamic punt-return threat as well,  helping UCLA to the second-best punt return average in the nation at 22.5 yards per return, including a dramatic 69-yard return for a touchdown at Washington State.

In 2020, he made the best of his six starts and seven games, leading the Bruins in catches with 38, while becoming the 27th Bruin to notch 100 career receptions, including a season-high eight catches against both Oregon and USC.

Philips also averaged 12.8 yards per punt return, and was named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12, and Second-Team All-Pac-12 by PFF and Phil Steele.

The redshirt junior is poised for an even bigger year in 2021.
