Olympic cauldron reinstalled outside of Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium

Deseret News: Construction crews use a crane to reinstall the 2002 Olympic cauldron outside of the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium on Friday.

The cauldron was removed in February 2020 to make way for an $80 million expansion of the stadium. The cauldron was transported to an off-site location where all 738 glass panes were removed and the structure was sandblasted and refinished.

Olympic cauldron returns to Rice-Eccles

Crews in Salt Lake City on Friday lowered the refurbished cauldron from the 2002 Winter Games onto a newly constructed 17-foot-tall pedestal just north of the Rice-Eccles Stadium ticket office at the University of Utah.
