We’re handling our CFB Player of the Week selections a little differently this year with the responsibility for making the selections falling squarely on my shoulders.
I do my best to be objective each week, basing my picks on comparative performances and stats, but if you think I’m missing something, or maybe some bias has slipped in, feel free to let me know on Twitter.
This week’s player picks were clear standouts at their positions.
So without further ado, here are my Week 13 picks for SuperWest Players of the Week for Offense, Defense, and Special Teams as well as Offensive and Defensive Freshmen.
Offensive Player of the Week: Caleb Williams, QB, USC

Caleb Williams’ performance against UCLA was about as perfect as it gets at the college level.
Williams is now the odds-on favorite to win the Heisman Trophy.
He threw for 470 yards, two touchdowns, and also added a TD with his feet in the Trojan win against the Bruins.
Defensive Player of the Week: Bennett Williams, DB, Oregon

Bennett Williams had a phenomenal all-around performance in Oregon’s victory over Utah on Saturday.
Williams finished the contest with 14 tackles, seven solo, and two interceptions.
Special Teams: Camden Lewis, PK, Oregon

In a week where not a lot happened in the special teams realm, Camden Lewis proved consistent.
Lewis was 2-2 kicking field goals on the day in the Ducks’ three-point victory over the Utes.
Offensive Freshman of the Week: Taylen Green, QB, Boise State

Taylen Green’s growth this year is like an elevator going up.
Green arguably played his best game of the season in Boise State’s huge win over Wyoming.
He threw for 211 yards and one touchdown, and also added 47 yards and one TD on the ground.
Defensive Freshman of the Week: Simote Pepa, DT, Utah

Simote Pepa continues to shine, even on a tough day for the Utes.
Pepa finished with four tackles, one and a half for a loss, and one sack.
Honorable Mention
Offensive: Jaren Hall (BYU)
Defensive: David Perales (Fresno State)
Special Teams: Joshua Karty (Stanford)
Freshman Offensive: Jaydn Ott (Cal)
Freshman Defensive: Jaxson Moi (Stanford)
