Mountain West football attendance analysis: Risers and fallers year-over-year

December 12, 2025

By Chris Murray, Nevada SportsNet: College football games hosted by Mountain West schools saw an increased average attendance during the 2025 season despite the conference’s top-four schools all experiencing declines.

The big reason behind the improvement was New Mexico, which drew 25,252 fans per home game, which was up 9,251, or nearly 58 percent. The top-six schools in home attendance didn’t change from 2024 with Fresno State first, Boise State second, Colorado State third, UNLV fourth, Air Force fifth and San Diego State sixth. Each of those first four schools saw a year-over-year decline, although Boise State’s was caused by decreased capacity during its stadium renovation.

Overall, MW teams drew 1,875,060 fans for 75 homes games (25,001 per game). That was up 2.2 percent from last season’s mark of 1,858,562 total fans, or 24,455 per game.
