When the news broke that Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah would be joining the Big 12, questions naturally arose about what the new member schools could expect.
To get an initial sense of the Conference, I reached out to Josh Neighbors, the host of “Neighborhood Watch” on the College Football Crystal Ball channel of 365 Sports, for some fast facts.
My quick-hit questions for him range from simple inquiries about championship locations to insight into rivalries and bragging rights.
You can contact Neighbors on the X App (formerly Twitter) @JoshNeighbors_.
Miller: On which days of the week does the Big 12 play its conference basketball games? The Pac-12 always played its league games on Thursdays and Saturdays with occasional matchups on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Neighbors: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Saturday.
Miller: Where is the Big 12’s basketball tournament played?
Neighbors: The T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO.

Miller: Where is the Big 12’s football championship game played?
Neighbors: AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX.
Miller: What are the preexisting rivalries in the Big 12 and why?
Neighbors: Kansas vs. Kansas State (Sunflower Showdown), Kansas State vs. Iowa State (Farmageddon), Baylor vs. TCU (the Revivalry), and Baylor vs. Texas Tech.
Miller: What rivalries do you expect to develop with the new teams?
Neighbors: Utah vs. BYU, Utah vs. Everybody, Cincinnati vs. West Virginia, UCF vs. West Virginia, TCU-Baylor-BYU, and Houston vs. Texas Tech.

Miller: What schools consider themselves the top dog in football?
Neighbors: Oklahoma State is the most consistent. TCU has gone the furthest. Baylor has had 10+ wins with three different coaches in the last 15 years. Kansas State just won the league. It is tough to say.
Miller: What is the unfiltered perception of Arizona Basketball within the schools of the Big 12? Don’t give us the politically correct response, tell us how it really is.
Neighbors: I think people believe Arizona is the southwest version of what Kansas is but probably don’t understand how great the home-field advantage is.

Miller: What is the unfiltered perception of Utah Football within the schools of the Big 12? Don’t give us the politically correct response, tell us how it really is.
Neighbors: Big 12 fans are probably going to downplay how good Utah Football has been because Utah seemed very resistant to joining the Big 12. I think very highly of Utah Football, but I am not sure other Big 12 fans will do the same.
Miller: What other conferences does the Big 12 have rivalries with and why?
Neighbors: The SEC because they raided the conference. They did with the Pac-12, but now they are gone.
